Tamba Buggy Guide for Twins, Triplets & QuadsReviews of Strollers, Pushchairs and Prams for Multiple Children
The Twins & Multiple Births Association (Tamba) has launched what it hopes will be the definitive guide to pushchairs for families with many young children.
The U.K. based charity, Tamba launched its most recent buggy guide in July 2009. Tamba's aim was that the guide should include a photograph and specification details of every double, triple or quadruple buggy available, with member's reviews if possible. Of course, there is a disclaimer, Tamba accepts no responsibility for people basing their purchases on this document. Any prospective pram purchaser should double check the information. How is the Twins & Multiples Buggy Guide Compiled and Arranged?Members of Tamba have contributed personal reviews which have been compiled into the most comprehensive guide to buggies, from the perspective of parents of twins, triplets and more. Volunteers members answered a comprehensive questionnaire about any buggy they had used. After the specification details, the results of the survey are presented as statistics for each model. The buggies are divided into side by side, tandem or triple & quad. The groups of buggies are sub divided by price, off road capabilities, travel systems, and whether suitable from birth. What is the Best Double Buggy for Twins? There can not be one answer to this question because it would depend on what kind of journeys the buggy is required for. It is useful to have a comprehensive list of buggy statistics to compare. The opinion of other pushchair users can be useful in helping discern between similar pushchairs or to double check some of the details. What Information is Required to Choose a Buggy for Multiples? One would need to read through the descriptions to find some other vital information for choosing a stroller which would include:
How Many Different Twin or Triplet or Quad Strollers are there to Choose From? There are 40 different side by side models in the guide, 24 tandems and 11 buggies listed for 3 or more children. The guide provides a long and useful list but it is by no means a complete list, there are other models available on the market in the U.K. and abroad. Are User Reviews Helpful When Choosing a Pushchair?User reviews can be helpful, but must be viewed with caution. The discrepancies in the answers are most striking and show that one person's experience and description of a product can be very different from that of someone else using the identical product. Of 47 people who used the Combi We 2, for example, 3 said there were two handles and 44 said there was a crossbar. That may just be a different way of looking at the same handle. Of the same group 1 thought the brake was hand operated whilst 45 said it was by foot. Perhaps that solo person was the same person who thought it did not have swivel wheels, in contrast to the other forty six. Of the 46, only 41 knew that the swivel wheels could be disabled if required, whereas 4 did not know and 1 did not reply. One person must have been thinking of a different pushchair because 1 out of 47 thought the wheels needed to be removed for the pushchair to be folded. Many of the other questions have different answers but the questions are more open to subjective interpretation such as how much contact is possible between the twins, full, some, minimal or none. Who Should Look at the Tamba Buggy Guide? Parents of twins, triplets and more will find the buggy guide and other publications by tamba useful and informative. There is no such thing as the perfect buggy for twins or more because these are almost inevitably heavier and larger than strollers for singletons. When choosing a buggy there are mmany factors to take into consideration and the right buggy for one family may not suit the lifestyle of another. It is certainly helpful to have a comprehensive list of potential pushchairs and prams, photographs and specifications. Individual reviews should always be read with some reservation.
